David Sieders has taken pole position for Round 6 of the Auto One V8 Utes Series, protected by Armor All.
The New South Welshman set a new lap record on his way to the top spot, just edging out championship leader Ryal Harris.
Harris, debuting a new look car this weekend, as well as reigning champion and category returnee Chris Pither, were both under the lap record, but neither could match out speed Sieders.
Pither, who is returning to the class in a one-off drive, endured mechanical issues in the one and only practice session, but fought back to take third.
Pither will start ahead of former V8 Supercars regulars Cameron McConville and Nathan Pretty.
Rounded out the top 10 is Jack Elsegood, George Miedecke, Rhys McNally, Andrew Fisher and Craig Dontas.
The V8 Utes hit the track for their first race tomorrow morning at 0825, with two more races to be held on Sunday.
