Ford Performance Racing will today become the first team to take advantage of the Car of the Future testing regulations allowing vehicle builders to complete a single test day away from their nominated test track.
The factory Ford outfit will take to Sydney Motorsport Park with its COTF ‘test chassis', which is set to be shared by Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison.
The team previously completed a two-part shakedown (September 3 and 4) and the first of its two ‘manufacturer days' (September 10) at its nominated track, Winton Motor Raceway.
The tight Victorian venue doesn't allow the V8 Supercars to reach top gear and features little in the way of high-speed corners on which the teams can assess their new cars.
FPR will be the only team at Sydney Motorsport Park today after TeamVodafone and the Holden Racing Team revised initial plans to share the test with the Prodrive-owned squad.
As previously reported, TeamVodafone has confirmed that it will not take advantage of the allowance to test outside of Queensland Raceway, instead returning to the Ipswich venue on November 8 for its second manufacturer test, where it will debut its second chassis.

It is expected, meanwhile, that the HRT will run its second manufacturer day at Phillip Island late next month.
