Mostert dominant in second Dunlop Series practice
Chaz Mostert’s FPR Falcon
Chaz Mostert has proven comfortably faster than his Dunlop Series rivals in the second and final practice session of the day at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
The Ford Performance Racing Falcon clocked a best lap of 2:08.30s during the second 45 minute hit-out – a time that would have been quick enough for seventh in the preceding V8 Supercars Championship practice.
Luke Youlden repeated his morning effort of second fastest, albeit some 0.50s adrift of Mostert. The session would end with Youlden stranded at the top of the Mountain after a suspected incident.
Nick Percat was third fastest, improving his time but not his position on the Coates Hire Commodore’s final lap.
Andrew Jones, Tim Blanchard, Scott McLaughlin, Dale Wood, Scott Pye, George Miedecke and Geoff Emery completed the top 10.
Ashley Walsh returned to the circuit following his accident at Griffins Bend in Practice 1, but was only able to complete a further three laps in the repaired Matt Stone Racing Falcon.
The Dunlop Series will return to the circuit for a 30 minute qualifying session at 0835 tomorrow morning before Race 1 of the weekend at 1320.
