Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa has taken a last gasp pole position for tomorrow’s Gran Premio Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera de Rimini in Misano.
In the first dry session this weekend, Pedrosa’s lap saw Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo pushed into second by less than two hundredths.
Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow was equally on the pace, with the Brit sitting on provisional pole in the final minutes before overtaken by the Spanish duo.
Fourth place went to LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl ahead of San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Álvaro Bautista and Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi, having had one of his best qualifying sessions of the year.
Row three is headed by Tech 3’s Andrea Dovizioso and Yamaha’s Ben Spies, who recovered from a crash half way through the session.
In ninth was rookie Repsol Honda’s Jonathan Rea, who looked unfazed by his lack of track time, as he went consistently quicker on his factory machine. Ducati’s Nicky Hayden completed the top 10.
Power Electronics Aspar’s Randy de Puniet finished as top CRT in 12th overall.
