Tim Slade gets first laps in rebuilt SLS AMG GT3
Stone Brothers Racing driver Tim Slade has given Erebus Motorsport’s new SLS AMG GT3 Gullwing its first shakedown run at Phillip Island this morning.
Slade was called in to join current Australian GT Championship leader Peter Hackett in testing the team’s two cars ahead of the fifth round of the GT Championship at the Island across the weekend of September 21-23.
The new shell was flown from Germany following the accident sustained by James Brock in practice at Sydney Motorsport Park and is the second car the team has built this year after Brock’s accident at the Island in May.
Hackett and Slade alternated between the #62 and #63 throughout the day.
While Slade was earlier tipped to compete with the team in rounds later this year, Erebus announced earlier this week that its has drafted in three factory AMG Customer Sports racers for each of the final three rounds of the championship in car #62, starting with former Mucke Motorsport ace Maro Engel at Phillip Island in two weeks’ time.

The car ran in a base, chromed livery, with Erebus Motorsport confirming it is in negotiations with several potential partners to join the program.
It’s the first time that Slade has been back behind the wheel of the Gullwing since a test in May at Winton. He, along with Hackett, was part of the team that took runner up position at the Bathurst 12 Hour back in February.
