Peter Carr has taken the round win and series lead following Races 3 and 4 of the FW1 Aussie Racing Cars at Sydney Motorsport Park today.
Despite not taking a victory in the two races held today, Carr managed to steal the title lead from Kyle Clews with just one round remaining.
However, it was Clews who stole the limelight in Race 3 this morning.
Starting from 21st position on the grid, Clews flew through the field to be leading the race by Lap 3.
Racing on new tyres, Clews managed to hold off Tyler Owen and Carr to take an impressive victory.
In Race 4, it was Carr who took advantage of the points aggregate grid order to lead the field away.
Carr, Clews, Owen and Trent Young conducted a four-way battle for the lead, as they slipstreamed their way down the long front straight.
The nimble motorcycle-engined machines fought hard to the chequered flag, but it was Young who took the victory from Carr and Clews.
The title fight will now go down to the wire on the streets of the Gold Coast on October 19-21, with Carr leading Clews by just eight points.
Racing fans were entertained with more on track action from the Production Sports Car, Improved Production and Formula Vee categories.
In Production Sports Car, Scott Bargwanna took out Race 3 from Peter Lucas and Ben Porter.
Improved Production featured Races 2 and 3, which were won by Kane Vereker and Ray Hislop respectively.
In Race 3 Hislop was forced to fight his way through the field after almost stalling his Ford Falcon on the front row of the grid.
While in the CXC Global/Bottlemart Formula Vee Club Championship, Ben Porter won Race 2 and 3 by the smallest of margins.
Porter edged out Daniel Reynolds in Race 2 before denying Michael Martin in Race 3 by just 0.1s, in a race where the top four cars were covered by only 1.3s.
