World champions Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner have topped mixed weather practice at Silverstone ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix.
Ducati's Rossi was the fastest in the opening rain-hit practice, edging out team-mate Nicky Hayden and Tech 3's Andrea Dovizioso.
In the second session, dryer conditions prevailed, allowing reigning world champ Stoner to clock the fastest time after setting the fourth fastest time in Practice 1.
Stoner's lap in the high 2m04s was enough to oust Yamaha Factory Racing's Ben Spies, who recovered well from a crash in the wet first practice.
San Carlo Honda Gresini's Álvaro Bautista was another to suffer a fall in wet first session. He put in a good showing to finish third in the dry on his satellite Honda.
Hayden was fourth fastest, proving the Ducati's speed in the dry, although Rossi slipped to 11th in P2.
Rounding out the top 10 was Stefan Bradl, Andrea Dovizioso, championship leader Jorge Lorenzo, Cal Crutchlow, Dani Pedrosa and Héctor Barberá.
Qualifying will be held on Saturday.
