Chris Atkinson will compete in the third round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship in Queensland this weekend with two new sponsors.
Australia's most successful world rally driver has secured backing from Bisley Workwear and event sponsors Brakes Direct for his home event.
The opening APRC round winner says that having the support of two home-grown Australian companies is the perfect incentive to keep his winning momentum.
“I'm pumped to be heading back to one of my favourite events and this time behind the wheel of an awesome Skoda which has dominated the APRC this season,” said Atkinson.
“To have two great Australian brands onboard supporting me, in Brakes Direct and Bisley Workwear, is a huge boost ahead of the rally this weekend and all going to plan, we'll be celebrating on Sunday night.”
The Rally of Queensland has not been a happy hunting ground for Atkinson in recent years. He won the event in 2004 before embarking on his World Rally Championship career. When he returned to the Australasian competition, he has been dogged by failures of varying degrees.
This year, however, he heads there with a tail wind, having won the opening round of the year in New Zealand.
The added sponsorship is also a major positive, and Bisley Workwear hopes that the local lad to score the ultimate result.
“Bisley Workwear is a follower of Australian Motorsport and see Chris Atkinson as a great ambassador for Australia on the world rallying stage,” said Matthew Graham, Divisional Manager Bisley Workwear.
“We are excited about his presence at the round and hopes he does well in front of a home crowd.”
This year marks the 44th running of the Brakes Direct Rally Queensland, making it the longest-running round in the Australian Rally Championship. The rally kicks off on Friday.
