Ten young drivers have been confirmed as the inaugural participants in Spectrum Racing Car's Island Formula driver development program, to be held at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
After receiving over 50 enquiries from young drivers across Australia and New Zealand, Spectrum Racing Cars together with its official sales and marketing agent Velocity Management Group, evaluated each application in detail, before selecting the 10 drivers who displayed the most suitability to participate in the program.
The drivers selected for Island Formula are; Daniel Plummer (17), Declan O'Brien (23), Jacob Parsons (16), Joey Mawson (15), Jordan Deckert (15), Mark Gibson (19), Matt Campbell (16), Nick Ellen (17), Renee Gracie (16) and Rob Gibson (21).
Mike Borland, managing director of Spectrum Racing Cars says that he excited to bring the racing driving training program to life.
“We are proud to offer 10 of Australia and New Zealand's most promising young drivers the chance to experience our latest, race-prepared Formula Fords on one of Australia's greatest racing circuits, something which no other driver development experience offers,” Borland said.
“In addition to the exciting on-track component, Island Formula will also provide an all-encompassing introduction to the vital elements of a professional motor racing career, including the importance of diet, fitness, media/ PR, mental conditioning, race car familiarisation and working with technical personnel.
“We are confident Island Formula will not only be educational, but a very enjoyable and rewarding experience for all participants.”
Spectrum's Island Formula driver development program will be held from November 29-30.
