Recently-crowned Australian Formula Ford Champion Cameron Waters will make his first solo V8 Supercars start next weekend, competing in the penultimate round of the Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series at Sandown.
After winning the chance to make his V8 debut at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 last month through reality TV program Shannons Supercar Showdown, Waters will get to add to his V8 experience with a race meeting of his own at the Victorian circuit.
The car will be prepared by Kelly Racing, using the same chassis that Waters shared with Grant Denyer at Bathurst.
Experienced team manager Dean Orr will call the shots for the 17-year-old.
The sponsor of the car will not be confirmed until next week.
Waters debut race meeting at Bathurst didn't go to plan when he crashed on his third lap during the race. After the team completed repairs, he got back into the race, logging many laps in the car.
Other new entries for Sandown include a return to the series for Ford Performance racing who will enter Chaz Mostert. CLICK HERE for Speedcafe.com's story on Mostert's new ride.
