Alex Davison is confident that he will have a drive in the V8 Supercars Championship next year.
The 31-year-old will be replaced at the end of this season by Lee Holdsworth, who will leave Garry Rogers Motorsport to drive the Stone Brothers Racing-prepared IRWIN Tools Ford Falcon FG.
Now at the end of his three year contract with SBR, Davison is on the hunt for a new home in 2012 and beyond.
While his options appear limited, he is optimistic of retaining a place in the competitive championship.
“I’m reasonably confident I’ll be out there, but until you have pen to paper, you never really know,” Davison told Speedcafe.com.
“There’s plenty of balls up in the air and few irons in the fire.”
Davison’s options can be narrowed down to three vacant seats – at Paul Morris Motorsport, Brad Jones Racing or at Garry Rogers Motorsport.
Davison currently sits ninth in the 2011 V8 Supercars Championship.
