Shane van Gisbergen believes he and Stone Brothers Racing still lack the consistency required to challenge TeamVodafone for the 2011 V8 Supercars Championship.
The 22-year-old currently sits third in the points standings at the season’s halfway mark, having taken race wins in Hamilton and Darwin.
Some 366 points down on title leader Jamie Whincup, van Gisbergen says his team’s up-and-down performance level, particularly in qualifying, remains a work-in-progress.
“Our car is not like a Triple Eight car where it’s always in the window,” van Gisbergen told Speedcafe.com.
“When our cars are good they’re really good, but we just need to find a good base set-up to take to each track so we can just work on little things rather than having to make massive changes to try and make it work.”
