Tickets for Barbagallo Raceway's Trading Post Perth Challenge are on sale after today's ‘ticket launch.'
The launch was held at King's Park in the heart of the Perth CBD, and attended by V8 Supercars drivers Will Davison and Karl Reindler.
The Barbagallo event returns to the championship this season after a one-year absense, and will feature the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, Australian Superbikes, Carrera Cup, V8 Utes and the Touring Car Masters as support classes.
The V8 Supercars Championship boasts three West Australian drivers, with Garth Tander, Dean Fiore and Karl Reindler all hailing from the state.
While Tander has spent more than a decade living in Melbourne, Fiore and Reindler remain Perth-based.
Reindler made his full-time V8 Supercars debuts last season – which ironically was the first year since 1977 that the series did not visit the state.
“I was devastated when we didn't come to Perth last year,” said Reindler, driver of the #21 Fair Dinkum Sheds Commodore.
“It was my first full year in V8 Supercars and not to come home to race was really hard to stomach.
“For Garth, Dean and I racing at home in the world's best touring car championship is a huge honour.
“To be able to represent our great state in V8 Supercars is one of the highest accolades we can get outside of winning a Championship.
“All three of us are absolutely passionate about the sport in Western Australia and have been working hard to get V8 Supercars back.
“Now we have done that we want to make Western Australian proud.”
Western Australian Minister for Sport and Recreation Terry Waldron also attended today's launch, and emphasised the importance of the event to the state.
“We have committed more than $15 million towards the event and upgrading Barbagallo Raceway to ensure that the venue is suitable to host the event from April 29 to May 1 2011 and beyond,” he said.
“The WA Government, through Tourism WA and the Department of Sport and Recreation, has worked with V8 Supercars Australia and the WA Sporting Car Club to ensure a successful outcome for the State.”
The Trading Post Perth Challenge is Event 4 of the 2011 International V8 Supercars Championship, and will be held between April 29 and May 1.
